I’ve been wanting to get a bidet but I’ve been scared at the prospect of cleaning the bidet/water spout or something along those lines! Or any other related maintenance? Any experience to share there? Another thought is that over here where we live, the water can be particularly “hard” so slightly worried about some sort of buildup/clogging…

Maintenance is relatively minimal. At least for our Toto bidet; I wipe down the bidet once every few weeks and clean the air filter every few months. The wand cleans itself after every use. Interestingly enough, it has a feature that sprays the toilet bowl after use to reduce the cleaning of the toilet too.

As for the hard water, I did a quick search and someone on Reddit commented "The cure is to turn off the water, extend the spray head (button on back of the controller). Let it drain, then soak it in vinegar to dissolve the water scale. You will need to prop up a container with vinegar around the wand to immerse the nozzles for a good soak."

With that said, the experience is well worth it!
