Pogs

A few weeks ago, I was reminded of a great child game. And that game was Pogs. Yes, I'm talking about those cardboard discs and slammers. For those doing the math on whether or not if I am really old enough to have remembered and actually played the game, I probably started playing towards the end of the fad. I assume it was towards the end because I remember buying sheets of the cardboard Pogs at Ocean State Job Lot, a discount store in New England.
I remember having a tube of slammer and probably three tubes of Pogs (Many which were redeemable at TILT for tickets). Were you an adventurous kid that played for keeps or a coward and played it for "not for keeps"? I'm better sure I didn't play either since my siblings and I shared the collection and only played between ourselves (since it was at the end of the fad). But what was my favorite part? It was definitely the metal slammers! They really flipped that Pogs, sometimes even flipping the entire stack at once. But of course, sometimes you had to use the plastic slammers to clean up those single Pogs.
Having such a craze, it was often common that many people had the set of Pogs and slammers. They even have Angry Bird Pogs! My favorite Pogs were the non-circular ones, shaped like monster or like a saw blade.
